Biography

Maria Grazia Carriero (Gioia del Colle, BA, 1980), artist and teacher of graphic and scenographic disciplines, studied visual arts and disciplines for the show at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. A tireless traveler – with a fundamental experience in Marrakech – and an experimenter, she moves from painting to photography, video art and installations; the common denominator of his research is virtuality, a philosophical and anthropological concept investigated through the analysis of popular culture, of ascetic beliefs and practices. The protagonist of numerous solo and group exhibitions, he boasts important participations in artist video reviews at the Fabbrica del Vapore (DOCVA) in Milan and at the Merz Foundation in Turin. On the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy he exhibited at the Rathaus in Stuttgart, while in 2015 he took part in Mediterranea 17 – Young Artist Biennale. No Food No Land, curated by Bjcem and Andrea Bruciati, also at the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan, and in 2016 is involved in the exhibit Another me, organized by Angelo Raffele Villani at the MARTA of Taranto. Finalist in 2012 of the Zingarelli Rocca delle Macìe Award, in 2014 she is the winner of an artist residency within the Open doors to art project. Contemporary art in the places of daily life, curated by Lorenzo Madaro, Maria Rosaria Goffredo and Manuela Goffredo (Palagiano, TA). He has exhibited in prestigious public and private institutions, from the Pall Mall gallery in London to the Kantieri Teatrali Koreja in Lecce and the Pino Pascali Foundation in Polignano a Mare.

In 2018 he published his first book with Progedit Editor: Art and ethnographic research. Il laùru: places, meetings, testimonies; entering the anthropology and Mediterranean editorial series directed by Eugenio Imbriani. In the same year, he presented his personal Waiting curated by Nicola Zito, sponsored by Matera Capital of Culture 2019 and included in the calendar of the European year of cultural heritage. In 2019 he presented his recent Hunting Evil research at the Spazio Microba in Bari.
